Winter Cocktail: The Sweet Surrender

Today we are showing you an easy way to serve up cocktails for a crowd…the punch bowl! I know what you are thinking, punch bowls are outdated, too sweet or meant for middle school dances. Ick!  The punch bowl has a bad rap, but it is time that we push the stigma aside and take a que from generations past. This recipe for a Sweet Surrender will forever change your view of the punch bowl.

Here is what you will need:
  • 2 cups honey syrup (1 cup water and 1 cup honey)
  • 1 bottle Pear Infused Vodka (2 pears and 1 bottle of vodka)
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 2 chilled bottles of champagne
  • 2 cups brewed chamomile tea, chilled
First, we made the pear infused vodka. It is a good idea to make this a few days ahead of time (3-5 days). Peel and dice the pears and place them in a 1 quart airtight glass jar or other lidded container. Pour in the vodka, close lid and shake. Store in a cool, dark place and try to shake it 2 to 3 times a day to redistribute ingredients.

It is also a good idea to make the honey syrup ahead of time, so that it has ample time to cool. Combine 1 cup water and 1 cup honey into a small saucepan. Bring it to a simmer over medium heat and cook, stirring until honey is totally dissolved. Let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate in an airtight container.

Once you have all of your pre-made concoctions ready and chilled, it is time to assemble. Stir the Pear Vodka, chamomile tea, honey syrup and lemon juice in a punch bowl. When you are ready to serve, stir in the champagne!
