Obsession: The Weekender

The summer means one thing, you're always on the go. Whether it is the beach or the lake for the weekend, it is suitcase living.  If you are anything like us, you are throwing everything in a L.L. Bean bag (which there is nothing wrong with). But, with bags like these you can now travel in style. Obsession: The Weekender

Dreaming of....

WARM WEATHER! I think we are in denial that the ground hog saw his shadow this past week.  We cannot wait for this cold weather to pass. We understand we don't have that much to complain about considering our winter temperatures are in the 50s. To get us through the next 6 weeks, we "packed our bag" with some of our new favorite spring items. A girl can dream right?

Travel Essentials

Travel Essentials

These past couple of weeks, I feel like I have been on the road non-stop.  Probably because I have. With quick turn around between trips, I pretty much keep my carry on ready to go. Some people may think I'm crazy, but hey, it's one less thing to worry about! Here are some of my top travel essentials.

1. This Madewell tote is the perfect carry-all.
2. I cannot go anywhere without lip balm, whether it's the grocery store or a 4 hour flight.
3. Words cannot describe how amazing this hand sanitizer is. It's the first one I have found that doesn't leave my hands feeling dry (smells awesome too!).
4. No matter the temperature outside I always have to travel with a cardigan.
5. Traveling without my ipad is not an option for me. So why not make it cute in this DVF case? The bright color makes it easier to find in your carry-on as well!
6. Flats are easy to slip on and off (so don't keep the line waiting with complicated shoes!)
7. A scarf is a must. Not only does it add color, it doubles as a blanket/pillow on the plane.

Did I cover everything you have to travel with?

End Table Styling

As promised, here are some styling tips for your end table.  I like to start with a collection of hard cover books and stack them on top of each other. I place my vintage find or decorative object on top of the stack of books. A tray has multiple uses...drink holder, clutter collector or eye catching object. This one seems to serve all of those purposes. The candle and matches also go on the tray. The end table is coming together...just add flowers...bingo, bango...you have a sharp looking end table.

Snapshot: A Room With A View

My hubby and I have been living with t-shirts as window treatments for SIX months. Yup, you heard me, the master bedroom has resembled a dorm room in the SAE house for six longgg months. Yikes! Some call that lazy, I call it opinionated. It took time to find the perfect fabric. It went something like this: go to store, gather some swatches, try them in the bedroom, return swatches, find more swatches, match them with the bedding, return swatches, gather more swatches....you get the point. It took time, but it was well worth the wait because now our bedroom is one step closer to being finished!

So today, I thought I would share a before and after of our bedroom windows.

Six months later.....

The room feels so much cleaner, bigger and better (excuse the lame adjectives).   Basically, the wait was well worth it!

Here are some other roman shades that I think are pretty swell!

Obsession of the week: A. BARCLAY Scarves

We are coveting all of A. BARCLAY's scarves. From linen to cashmere they have all the seasons covered. Not only are they gorgeous, but they have a pretty neat story behind them. Anna Sibley (designer) teamed up with Beverly Kansteiner-Burden (giving coordinator) to provide goods to Tanzanian orphanages. Little fun fact, Leslie grew up with Anna, and Marion went to college with Bev (small world!). For every scarf that is purchased, A.BARCLAY will buy an item of need from a Tanzanian for a Tanzanian. Not only does this supply multiple orphanages with daily necessities, but it also stimulates the local Tanzanian market. Be sure to check them out, we are positive you will love them too!
