DIY: Fiesta Drink Stirrers

Good morning! Today we have something new in store for you. We have a DIY success story that we want to share. We made these festive drink stirrers for Hyla Jewelry's trunk show last week. They were such a hit, that we decided we had to share the details! I mean, if we can do it, you can do it!

Here is what you will need (just four things):
a pair of scissors
cupcake liners
wooden skewers
glue (I found some paper craft glue at Hobby Lobby)

Step One: Take a cupcake liner and fold it in half, then fold it in half again (it should be folded in quarters).

Step Two: Take your scissors and cut along the open edge of the folded cupcake liner, careful not to cut all the way to the edge (use the creases as a guide).

Step Three: Open the liner (so that it is only folded in half) and glue along the center fold. Careful to just glue halfway up the middle.

Step Four: Take the skewer and place  it along the glued edge, then fold the cupcake liner in half...like a taco!

Step Five: Now, glue the bottom edge of the liner, this time putting glue along the entire edge. Slowly, roll the skewer to the edge, allowing the cut paper to flare out. Use your fingers to add extra flare!

Step Six: There you have it...festive drink stirrers. Serve with your favorite drink and Voila

We created a pomegranate margarita for the event and it was a huge hit! Combine 8oz. frozen limeade, 1/2 cup tequila, 1 cup soda water and 1/2 cup pomegranate juice. Put all the ingredients in a high speed blender with 2 cups of ice and blend away. The best thing about this drink is that it can be made up to six hours ahead of time and stored in the fridge. Serve over ice and garnish with lime!

Give it a try and let us know what you think. Enjoy!
